Nov. 13 Tue. 2007 Three Different Taunts If you want to show your opponent a little flair, you can do moves unrelated to battle—it’s called taunting. You do it with the +Control Pad, except when using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk.
This time, you do one of three different taunts, depending on the direction you press the +Control Pad!
Up taunt: He twirls his sword twice and sheaths it. Side taunt: Oh. A fairy. Down taunt: Is this his mysterious pose from the Nintendo 64 version?! There are a variety of patterns for you to enjoy. He takes off his hat and spins around whimsically. She curls herself in some sort of new stretch. He gives a shout on the spot. He gives a three-fingered "W" salute. He thrusts his sword in the ground and crosses his arms. He spins his feet and says "Too slow..." ... With Wii Remote + Nunchuk control, taunts are handled with the 1 Button (up taunt), the 2 Button (down taunt) and the 1 and 2 Buttons simultaneously (side taunt).
Oh, and a short message can be assigned to each taunt direction.

This... game... looks... awesome! I can't wait to play it somewhere else (I don't have a Wii)! I also still like that Wii is motion sensitive, and I've always imitated the characters from SSBM before.

Nov. 14 Wed. 2007 Handicap Be kind to beginners! If all you do in brawls is beat up people who don’t know left from right, they’ll never understand the rules of the game, right?
So until now, I’ve always made sure to include handicaps in each game in the series.
But, I began to think that there isn’t much thrill in just making yourself weaker, so I changed the system.
First, find the Handicap option on the Rules screen. Then you’ll see something new. Click-click-click! Ratchet up the handicap. You start with your initial damage meter boosted! Even when you reappear. The strength of each character doesn’t change, so then you can show your skills to your opponent!
Also, you can use this not only for handicapping, but also for starting all players at the same damage—it’ll give you matches with a slightly different feel.
Now, I’ve also kept the auto-handicap feature. This gradually increases the starting damage for the winner of the match.
Choose the Auto setting from the same option.

Nov. 15 Thu. 2007 Meta Knight: Special Moves
I introduced some of Meta Knight’s special moves in a previous post titled " Four Special Move Types". But, since he has so many peculiar moves, I wanted to explain them again. <Standard Special Move: Mach Tornado> Suck them up! Your inertia carries you left and right. Tap the button to rise up off the ground a bit. <Side Special Move: Drill Rush> Rush!!! You spin like a drill, plowing into people. You can also change your direction slightly. Push your enemies up into the air! Of course, you can push them down, too. <Up Special Move: Shuttle Loop> Rise up while launching your sword up... You can also flutter through the air and glide. This is a move you use to glide. It’s kind of like Kirby’s wing ability. <Down Special Move: Dimensional Cape> The familiar move from the trailer. He wraps himself in his cape, disappears, and reappears with this move. Tilt the stick to move the position where he’ll reappear! If you’re pressing the attack button, you’ll unleash a surprise attack as you reappear! Use the Dimensional Cape as a precursor to an attack. If you just can’t get the opportunity, then forget about attacking.
Kirby: Meta Knight’s Revenge
I was just thinking how it’s been more than ten years since I made this game...
It was in Kirby Super Star that Meta Knight rode out on the Battleship Halberd to govern Dream Land. This is a jazz arrangement of the music from back then. WELL? How do you like it?!
After going with the "serious touch" of the Halberd for the Kirby stage, I’m now thinking that maybe this overly peppy song is a little incongruous...

Nov. 16 Fri. 2007 Spectator Even among Smash players, there are some people who just aren’t that good at action games. With that in mind, I’ve been thinking about how I can convey the fun of Smash to newcomers. I’ve been thinking about this type of thing since long before I joined this industry.
So, for this game, I’ve prepared a new kind of mode. It’s called Spectator, and you’ll find it in the With Anyone menu. If I had to describe it in a word, it’s "watching!"
You can enjoy watching matches between other people! This mode is a service where Nintendo uses Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection to send the data for games played between other people to every Smash household.
Match selection is handled automatically, and absolutely no names of any players can be seen. It feels like there’s a continuous broadcast of matches on your television! Even if you don’t play, you can enjoy the battles of other characters!
And at the beginning of each match, you can even bet coins on the character you think will win.
I’ll bet some coins. I’ve got a winner! Glean what hints you can from the stages and combatants and try to deduce the winner.
Of course, if your pick wins, your coin count will increase! And the more players in a match, the higher the payout. There may even be extra prizes.
Even if you lose, you can get some stickers. Just to make sure there’s no mistaking that just watching a match can be fun, we’ll be passing out stickers left and right.
For those of you who want to cooperate with our data collection for Spectator mode, set Allow Spectators to Yes in your Wi-Fi Options. This will result in your play data occasionally being sent to Nintendo.
This setting is in your Wi-Fi Options. The content that is broadcast is the same for everyone spectating (if your connection timing is the same), so it should be fun to have people in different environments watch and cheer the same match.
To be shocked by impressive play, or to bust a gut laughing at some accident will be quite fun! Perhaps you can use it as reference for your own matches.
Hopefully this mode is something that even people who aren’t good at games can enjoy.

Nov. 19 Mon. 2007 Ice Climbers: Final Smash <Iceberg> The Ice Climbers’ Final Smash is Iceberg!
Calling it Iceberg is a bit problematic. I mean, it’s not like...
Ahh! I guess Iceberg IS about all you can call this! When you get the Smash Ball and do your move...
The duo does a high-five, and... CRRRRRSSSSSSHHHHH! It happens even in the big city, just like this... Ice doesn’t just make the available ledges smaller and more slippery, but it also damages your opponents!
But, of course, the Ice Climbers can handle it no problem. They look as cool and refreshed as ever.
Sometimes, you can even freeze opponents. Now that’s just cold! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- How lovely, a giant Ice Cube of Doom.

Nov. 20 Tue. 2007 Smart Bomb This familiar item is from the Star Fox series. Those who have played those games can imagine how this bomb explodes.
Throw the Smart Bomb, Fox!Don’t get caught in the explosion, Fox!Hurry, Fox! Run![/center] This fearsome item practically covers entire stages in a massive, engulfing explosion. It’s best to try to use it in a spot that leaves few places for enemies to flee. Or something like that.
It does seem that they occasionally fail to explode. You might throw it, only to watch it not detonate. In those cases, you’ll want to be careful, because you never know when it might go off.
Speaking of duds, certain Pokémon that explode also sometimes fail to detonate.
Pssssssst. Training If you brawl for a long time, there is one thing you will definitely start to think: "What can I do that will help me be able to win?"
For that, I’ve implemented a training mode to help you get to know the characters.
At first glance, nothing about this screen seems unusual. Bothersome displays are hidden at first. The settings screen appears when you pause the game.
You need to know the moves, whether you’re trying to hit with them or avoid them—this is especially true of Final Smashes.
This mode is particularly helpful with that.
------------------------------------------------------------------------ Training is mah but that Smart Bomb sound awesome.

Nov. 22 Thu. 2007 Saki Amamiya Saki Amamiya appears from Sin & Punishment: Successor to the Earth! This title is currently available via the Virtual Console.
Saki stands on solid ground! He uses his weapon, the Cannon Sword, which combines a sword and a gun into one to slice and shoot! He cuts repeatedly without mercy! And shows off his magnificent jump!Take this!! As with the original title, he speaks in English.
He rivals just about any main character. There were many requests from users for his inclusion, and he IS pretty cool, so I did what I could to include him. After all, this game does let you enjoy a dream cast of supporting characters!
H-he has absolutely no problem fitting in!

Nov. 23 Fri. 2007 Lucas: Final Smash
<PK Starstorm> Lucas’s Final Smash is PK Starstorm! It’s a move in which he unleashes a rapid barrage of meteorlike PSI power. After a fierce battle, he gets the Smash Ball!P...K....STARRRRRRRRSTORRRRRRRRRM! As the star storm continues, the tension increases. They all rain down at once. Can you possibly escape it?! It may be that it’s less advantageous on larger stages and more advantageous on smaller ones. There are a variety of moves like this that have clear advantages and disadvantages depending on the terrain.
Charged Special Moves
Mastering the chargeable subset of special moves is important.
Take the following moves, for example.
Link’s Standard Special Move: The Hero’s BowPikachu’s Side Special Move: Skull Bash These moves can be charged up by holding down the special-move button, increasing both speed and power. If you press the button down firmly and then release, you’ll unleash the move at full strength! When you first try out a character you aren’t familiar with, this should be the first thing you try.
But, there are also some moves that continue charging even after you release the button... Huh???
DK’s Standard Special Move: Giant PunchSamus’s Standard Special Move: Charge Shot ...among others.
For these moves, when you press the special-move button again, it unleashes the move at the power level you charged it to.
Also, with these moves, you can move around while charged by charging the move to the maximum limit or by pressing the shield button to cancel the charge.
Look! Smoke shoots out from his head when he’s reached maximum charge! Do your best to build up the maximum charge, then unleash it at just the right moment! These are superimportant techniques for characters like DK and Samus. Don’t forget them.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lucas is deffently an great character and boring charging stuff, which I already know.

Nov. 26 Mon. 2007 Controls If you use the Controls function under Options, you can assign controls to any button configuration you like. First, input a name. What’s important to know is that button configurations must be tied to a specific name. Once you do that, any time you choose that name afterward, you’ll automatically play with the button settings you chose. One name can handle controls for four controllers.Even a GameCube Controller!Even an NES-style Wii Remote!Even a Classic Controller!Even the Nunchuk! ...Huh? What’s that thing that says "Shake Smash" under Nunchuk?
With this function, you just shake the Wii Remote to do a Smash Attack in the direction you shook it. It’s a little bonus we added.
Also, if you turn Tap Jump off, you can cut the jump function out of the up direction on the Control Stick. This means it’s easier to do an up attack without jumping into the air. Use whichever way you prefer. Then try it out! Do it to your heart’s content. Try to find the perfect button combination!
But, if you decide to play Smash at a friend’s house, your button configuration naturally won’t be there. And trying to set it up all over again is sort of a pain.
I didn’t miss this detail, though. Press the + Button on the name list to open the menu. When the menu screen pops up, press and hold both the 1 Button and the 2 Button. After a moment, your name will be saved to the Wii Remote. Of course, you can expect your control settings to carry over along with your name! Button settings are transferred by way of the Wii Remote. Pack your name into your Wii Remote and transfer it the Wii at your friend’s house. Then choose that name to play with your button configuration.
Wow. I hate to say it, but we really have thought of everything.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oh rah! More uesless control suff.

Nov. 27 Tue. 2007 Widescreen Support This title, like most Wii titles, supports widescreen display. In other words, you can enjoy the game with full display across televisions with wider screens, too. This is standard display. This is widescreen display. The border off the screen that cues a KO is the same for both. Choose the display mode that matches the TV you have at home.
But some people may not know if they have a normal TV or widescreen TV, and may not even know what difficult terminology like 4:3 or 16:9 means. Right? Who knows all that stuff?
So, all you have to do is check the circle that appears in the background on the screen where you choose your display setting.
This is the correct standard ratio. This is the correct widescreen ratio. The two shots above... Wrong. Being able to just look at the image and know if you got your settings right is pretty huge, huh?
Ah, yes. If your television has screen-size settings called Wide and Full, set your TV to Full. If you choose Wide, there is a chance the image may be shifted toward the center of the screen.
Donkey Kong "Donkey Kong" (0:54) Composition Supervisor: Yukio Kaneoka Arrangement Supervisor: Hirokazu Tanaka. Ex He is the mainstay who has built Nintendo sound since the days of Game & Watch: Hirokazu Tanaka.
He wasn’t included on the list of musicians until now, but he secretly joined the fray!
And then there’s this arrangement of the original Donkey Kong theme. It has gone in the direction of the unexpected, becoming completely different from the work of the other musicians.
You’ve got to hear it!
